In Greene County district court dispositions were entered in a pair of cases against Omar Felan Estrada, 29, of Grand Junction. In the first case Estrada was sentenced to 60 days in jail on a charge of theft-fourth degree, amended from burglary-third degree. The jail time was suspended and he was placed on informal probation for one year. He was fined $315 with a $110.25 surcharge and a $125 Law Enforcement Initiative (LEI) surcharge. The court found he is unable to pay $300 restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees. Court costs were $962.09.
In the second case Estrada was sentenced to 30 days in jail (concurrent) on a charge of assault-simple, amended from domestic abuse assault causing bodily injury. He was fined $65 with a $2275 surcharge. Court costs were $216.50. (Sentencing: Honorable Adria A. Kester)
Robert Anthony Staiert, 41, of Carroll was sentenced April 8 to five years in prison after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of operating while intoxicated (OWI)-third offense. All but 30 days was suspended. He must pay a $48 per day sheriff’s fee for the time he serves. Staiert was placed on probation for three years and his driver’s license was revoked for six years. He must complete at his own expense the recommendations of a substance abuse evaluation he has already undergone, and he must complete a community college drinking drivers school. Staiert was fined $3,125 with a $1,093.75 surcharge and a $10 surcharge for drug abuse resistance education (DARE). Court costs were $180. A companion case in magistrate court in which Staiert was charged with operating without ignition interlock device was dismissed, but he was assessed $60 court costs in the case. (Sentencing: Kester)
Nicholas Scott Lytle, 32, of Jefferson was sentenced April 8 to two days in jail on a charge of possession of marijuana. He must pay a $48 per day sheriff’s fee for the time he serves. He must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommended treatment at his own expense, and his driver’s license was revoked for 180 days. Lytle was fined $315 with a $110.25 surcharge, a $10 DARE surcharge and a $125 LEI surcharge. Court costs were $100. (Sentencing: Kester)
Persons pleaded not guilty in district court as follows: Jeffery Paul Olberding, 49, of Scranton, carrying weapons; Tesa Renee Binns, 20, of Jefferson, criminal mischief-second degree, assault on person in certain occupations (three counts), and interference with official acts inflicting bodily injury; and Jaime Jaurez Coronado, 37, of Jefferson, OWI-second offense. Trial dates were set for June 21 in every case.
Information is available since the return of an arrest warrant that Deann Marie Goff, 33, of Jefferson has been charged with forgery (two counts). The warrant was issued Oct. 9 and returned April 5.
Cases were initiated in district court as follows: Jody Lyn Schad, 40, of Jefferson, assault while displaying a dangerous weapon and domestic abuse assault-first offense; Stephanie Arvella Goff, 45, of Jefferson, possession of methamphetamine-third or subsequent offense, possession of marijuana-third or subsequent offense, burglary-third degree (two counts), and theft-third degree; and Vincent Andrew Ratliff, 57, of Jefferson, harassment-second degree.
